Corrections & Additional Notes

p. 65: Gouverneur Morris not Governor Morris

p. 66: Regarding “Randel’s plan,” Gerard Koeppel’s book, City on a Grid, notes, “Of late, a myth has grown up as myths do that John Randel was responsible for Manhattan’s grid….If the designers of the grid—the heavy greatcoat on the land, the dense undergarment of the city—were the Commissioners, John Randel was their tailor….” (p. 96). That is to say, Koeppel argues Randel was simply creating and implementing the plan as dictated by the Commissioners.

p. 156: 0.6% not 0.06%
